TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Democratic Progressive Party presidential candidate, Lai Ching-te, officially began his campaign on Monday (Nov. 20) alongside his running mate, Hsiao Bi-khim, emphasizing the pair's shared mission to lead Taiwan towards a prosperous future.
In particular, Lai praised Hsiao's performances in her previous posts in Taipei and Hualien, especially her handling of Taiwan-U.S. relations during her term as representative to the U.S.
With the world closely watching Taiwan's election, Lai declared the need for an experienced and steady leader to guide the country toward democracy, peace, and prosperity.
Lai and Hsiao appealed to voters by promising steadfast guidance for the nation, navigating it towards the right path. "Give us a chance," Lai urged. "We shall unite Taiwan and turn evolving situations into opportunities for our nation!"
Lai emphasized that Hsiao's return to the political scene is fueled by her profound love for Taiwan, expressing gratitude for her return and joint efforts toward national prosperity.
