TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT) presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih declared on Tuesday (Nov. 21) his willingness to collaborate with Taiwan People's Party (TPP) hopeful Ko Wen-je for a KMT-TPP joint ticket.
This announcement coincided with the time Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate Lai Ching-te and running mate Hsiao Bi-khim registered for the presidential election scheduled for January.
Previous negotiations reached an impasse, but Hou openly invited Ko to join the ticket, emphasizing that the offer remains consistently open.
"I will wait for you until the very last moment. Your decision is pivotal," Hou stated.
Hou highlighted that 60 percent of the population supports a KMT-TPP coalition, indicating a strong desire for political change.
Despite recently facing a barrage of negative comments, Hou maintained his resolve and focused on guiding Taiwan toward a peaceful future.
"These remarks aimed to hurt me, but I remain unaffected as they hold little significance," Hou emphasized. "The priority is to meet the nation's expectations and achieve cross-strait peace."
Hou expressed hope for collaboration to ensure Taiwan's prosperity, sustainability, and stability through a change in governance.
