TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Chen Chien-jen praised Hsiao Bi-khim, Taiwan's former representative to the U.S., for her significant contributions during her term in office, noting on Monday (Nov. 20) that her efforts have been recognized and appreciated by both U.S. and Taiwanese authorities.
Chen, along with Education Minister Pan Wen-chung, attended a community reading station event at Miaoli County's Hsing Hua Senior High School. During a media interview at the event, he commended Hsiao's collaboration with Democratic Progressive Party presidential candidate Lai Ching-te.

Regarding inquiries about Hsiao's potential return to Taiwan to join Lai in the elections, Chen expressed his belief in Hsiao's suitability for the election and stated he would respect the decision of the party central and the campaign headquarters regarding the successor as the U.S. representative.
Addressing Sunday's medical personnel protest march demanding healthcare reforms, Chen affirmed the government's commitment to the rights and interests of medical staff.
He revealed an agreement to establish a regular communication channel with the group and instructed the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Ministry of Education to actively engage with the demands of medical personnel, emphasizing his commitment to enhancing rights protection and creating a better work environment for medical staff.
