TAIPEI (TVBS News)  — Drugstores in Japan have started limiting the purchase of cold medicine for each customer.

China's recent lift of COVID restrictions has led to a surge in new cases and higher demands for medication. Many drugstores in Japan have installed Chinese-language notices to inform customers of the new rules.

A note said: "refusal of purchases for the purpose of conversion." Another simply stated, "there are no more" or "5 boxes per person and per day."

Many Chinese people ask their friends in Japan to buy medications.

A travel expert in Japan said that he went to over 10 drugstores to get painkillers for five of his friends, but he only managed to get two boxes.

Another Taiwanese living in Japan also shared how her coworkers in China aren't able to get the necessary medications and are asking for her help.
