The Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation (THSRC) will add eight more trains during the Lunar New Year transport season from Feb. 6 to 15. These additional services include five southbound and three northbound trains. Tickets for these services will be available starting midnight on Saturday, Jan. 27. During the passenger peak period, THSRC will also expand unreserved seating across eight carriages on trains running between Nangang and Taichung. THSRC will provide a total of 461 additional train services over the Lunar New Year period, with 246 southbound and 215 northbound trains. Passengers are advised to plan in advance by checking the corporation’s website for transport season sales information and avoiding peak times. Real-time updates on passenger numbers at different stations will be available on the THSRC website. Stations implementing crowd control for unreserved seating will display a yellow or red light, indicating expected queue times of over 30 minutes or over 60 minutes, respectively. Passengers can also receive crowd control information and manage their travel plans via the T-EX mobile ticketing app.

Inventec Group will hold its annual year-end bōnenkai on Jan. 26 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, with rumors suggesting that rock legend Wu Bai may make a surprise appearance. This event marks Chairman Sam Yeh’s first time hosting since the Covid-19 outbreak, signaling a return to in-person festivities. Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation (THSRC) will be adding 21 weekly train services, with 11 heading southbound and 10 going northbound, starting on January 3, 2024. This expansion plan will bring the total number of weekly train services to 1,060 for passengers. Tickets for these additional services can be purchased starting from midnight on December 6. The aim of this service enhancement is to improve the travel experience for passengers north of Taichung, especially during peak commute hours and tourist seasons. The additional train services primarily target business commuters during weekdays. THSRC has previously executed two ＂regular service increase＂ plans in July and October, raising the fixed weekly services from 1,016 to 1,025 and then further to 1,039. In addition, a ＂short-term service increase＂ plan was implemented in November and December. THSRC intends to monitor the outcomes of this short-term increase to guide future adjustments in long-term service offerings. This initiative reflects THSRC’s commitment to adapting its services to the evolving travel patterns and needs of the public, aiming for greater convenience and efficiency for its users.

The 2023 ITF Taipei International Travel Fair concluded with a total of 344,475 visits, representing a 76.3% growth from the previous year. The event, organized by the Taiwan Visitors Association, recorded a single-day attendance of 75,917 visitors on its final day. Numerous hotel groups and travel agencies reported strong sales performances, with some generating daily revenues in the millions and cumulative four-day returns exceeding a billion dollars. Early Friday morning (Aug. 25), an explosion was reported at the electrical substation of Taipei MRT’s Nangang Depot, injuring two personnel. 

In a surprising turn of events on Sunday night (June 4), passengers at MRT Nangang station were met with an unexpected sight as water gushed across the floor. The deluge, which caught many off guard, was not the result of pouring rain, but rather a leaked pipe in the male restroom.
