TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Advanced military hardware, including HIMARS rocket launchers and cutting-edge defense technology, arrived at Taipei's Nangang Exhibition Center (南港展覽館) in pre-dawn hours Monday (Sept. 15). The sophisticated weaponry awaits display at the Taipei Aerospace & Defense Technology Exhibition (台北國際航太暨國防工業展), opening Thursday (Sept. 18). The exhibition will feature Taiwan's latest defense innovations alongside international aerospace technology, highlighting the island's growing domestic weapons manufacturing capabilities.
A heavily wrapped M1A2T Abrams tank arrived on flatbed transport for the upcoming defense showcase, representing Taiwan's most advanced armored capabilities. New weapons systems include the TOW 2B missile launcher and the highly mobile Sword II missile launcher (陸射劍二發射車), both designed for rapid deployment scenarios. Taiwan's military unveiled these systems in August alongside a prototype 105-mm Clouded Leopard D3 armored vehicle (105公釐雲豹D3樣車) and a reconnaissance tactical wheeled vehicle developed by the Armaments Bureau's (軍備局) Factory 209.
A desert-camouflaged rocket launcher featuring advanced electro-optical targeting systems has captured significant attention among defense observers at the venue. Kuo Ming-chen (陳國銘), interview director at Defence International Magazine (全球防衛雜誌), identified the system as potentially the Armaments Bureau's vehicle-mounted 2.75-inch rocket remote weapon station (鎮海火箭彈系統). An unmanned vessel suspected to originate from the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (中科院) also arrived via flatbed transport, prompting Kuo to emphasize rigorous capability assessments if officially presented.
