TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) has forecasted a significant shift in Taiwan's weather starting Monday (March. 3) as cold air moves southward, bringing a notable temperature drop by nightfall.
According to the CWA's prediction, temperatures will drop to a chilly 17 to 21 degrees Celsius by night. Offshore islands will experience a milder climate, with Penghu (澎湖) ranging from 20 to 26 degrees Celsius, Kinmen (金門) from 17 to 23 degrees Celsius, and Matsu (馬祖) from 12 to 18 degrees Celsius.
The administration suggested scattered showers or thunderstorms across Taiwan from Tuesday (March 4) to Wednesday (March 5) morning as the front passes and the northeast monsoon strengthens. From Wednesday (March. 5) to Friday (March. 7), the northeast monsoon or continental cold air mass will bring colder weather and brief showers to various regions.
Today, daytime temperatures could reach up to 33 degrees Celsius, with clear skies expected across the island. However, the weather bureau warns of increased rainfall, especially in the western and Yilan-Hualien (宜花) regions, due to an approaching front. In the northern and eastern parts, temperatures will range from 28 to 30 degrees Celsius, while central and southern areas may see 32 to 33 degrees Celsius. '
By Saturday (March. 8) and Sunday (March. 9), northern and northeastern areas will remain cold, with sporadic rain expected. The CWA anticipated a slight weakening of the northeast monsoon or cold air mass from March. 10, but chilly mornings and evenings will persist.
