BELIZE (TVBS News) — President Tsai Ing-wen warned Monday against countries trying to "drive a wedge" between Taiwan and its diplomatic allies.
Speaking before the National Assembly of Belize on Monday (April 3), the president emphasized the friendships between Taiwan and its regional allies.
"We have remained close because of our common values and our shared vision for a more prosperous and peaceful future," Tsai added.
Tsai will meet with U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in the U.S. during her stopover in Los Angeles on Wednesday (April 5) before she returns to Taiwan.
McCarthy's office confirmed earlier this week that he will host a bipartisan meeting with Tsai at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California.
China has continued to issue warnings and displeasure toward the upcoming historic meeting, pledging to "fight back" should the encounter eventually unfolds.
