TAIPEI (TVBS News) — White House National Security Council Spokesperson John Kirby assured on Tuesday that there was no cause for China to react to Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen's upcoming transit visits to the United States.

Kirby noted that these types of visits were not uncommon, and there have already been six similar instances in the past.

While there is no official itinerary yet, Taiwan's presidential office tentatively scheduled Tsai to stop in New York on March 30 before continuing to Guatemala and Belize.

Tsai will also visit Los Angeles on April 5 before returning to Taiwan.

Despite Kirby's assertion that the visits are routine and unofficial, reports indicate that Beijing has already expressed its dissatisfaction and once again warned of the consequences if Taiwan seeks independence.

Tsai will embark on a 10-day trip to Central America, where she will visit diplomatic allies Guatemala and Belize on March 29.
