NANJING (TVBS News) — Taiwan's former President Ma Ying-jeou called on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to "seek peace and avoid war" during his speech in front of the Dr. Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in Nanjing, China, on Tuesday (March 28).

In his speech, Ma notably referenced the Republic of China (ROC.) calendar, saying the founding father passed away on year 14 of the ROC Calendar (1925).

He emphasized Dr. Sun's dying words, urging the nation to strive for "peace, struggle, and save China."

Ma pointed out that 98 years later, his team and students from Taiwan traveled to Nanjing to pay their respects.

He added that he hopes to convey the same message on this trip, urging both sides of the strait to work together toward peace and prevent a war.

Ma concluded his statement, saying, "All Chinese across the strait share the responsibility to work tirelessly towards that goal!"
