Ma credits Dr. Sun for Chinese descendants’ well-being

NANJING (TVBS News) — Taiwan's former President Ma Ying-jeou started his 12-day trip across the Taiwan Strait in Nanjing, China on March 28.

Ma gave a brief introduction to the history of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the founding father of the Republic of China (Taiwan, ROC), and his contributions to China and the ROC government.

 

"[His] unparalleled contribution to China marked a turning point in its destiny, laying the foundation for China's prosperity and strength," Ma said, adding that every Chinese on both sides of the Taiwan Strait share a common identity. 

He expressed joy at seeing both sides of the strait making significant "strides" toward achieving the founding father's ideals. 

"This progress is essential for the present and future welfare of communities and future generations," he said.
