TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A Taipei city councilor candidate tied the knot on Tuesday (Nov. 22), four days before Taiwan's local elections.
Yang Chih-tou, a councilor candidate for the Da'an and Wenshan District representing the opposition Kuomintang (KMT), told local media that it was just the right timing to get married. He dismissed critics who accused him of trying to get media attention.
Former president Ma Ying-jeou and the wife of Taipei mayor candidate Chiang Wan-an, Shi Fang-ken, were in attendance at the ceremony and congratulated the couple, wishing them a happy marriage.
Yang promised his wife that they will share their future together no matter the results of the election. "We will go through thick and thin together," Yang said.
