TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In a celebration of democracy and innovation, Chunghwa Post Co. Ltd (中華郵政公司) is set to release a special set of commemorative stamps on Monday (May 20) to mark the inauguration of Taiwan's 16th president and vice president.
The collection, featuring four stamps and a miniature sheet, showcases Taiwan's traditional architectural motifs and symbolizes the nation's connection to the world.
The stamps, designed as a quartet, utilize illustrations that incorporate traditional Taiwanese window grille designs to represent "connection."
Each stamp highlights a different aspect of Taiwan's society, including democracy, technological innovation, medical aid, and cultural creativity.
The set comprises two stamps valued at NT$8, two at NT$15, and a miniature sheet valued at NT$28, offering a rich tapestry of Taiwan's achievements and aspirations.
To complement the stamp release, Chunghwa Post has also introduced a range of collectible items, including specially printed first-day covers, protective stamp cards, and a collector's album card, which went on sale Thursday (May 16).
Additionally, a commemorative folder priced at NT$380, containing a full sheet of stamps and the miniature sheet, will be available for purchase on the day of the stamp issue.
The inauguration ceremony of President-elect Lai Ching-te (賴清德), set to take place at the Presidential Office Building, carries the theme "Weaving Taiwan Together, Advancing Democracy Forward." (共織台灣,民主前行) This year's theme underscores Taiwan's continuous progress on the foundation of freedom.
