TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A sea warning for Typhoon Usagi (天兔) was issued early Thursday, alerting ships traveling in the Bashi Channel. The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) also indicated that a land warning might be announced by the afternoon.

The typhoon's center is approximately 630 kilometers south-southeast of Eluanbi (鵝鑾鼻) and is moving northwest to north-northwest at speeds of 16 to 20 kilometers per hour. The storm's central pressure is measured at 945 hectopascals, with maximum wind speeds near the center reaching 45 meters per second.

Gale-force winds extend 150 kilometers from the storm's center. The initial sea warning includes the Bashi Channel, with high waves expected along the eastern and southwestern coasts, Hengchun Peninsula (恆春半島), Penghu (澎湖), Lanyu (蘭嶼), and Green Island (綠島).

According to the "Weather Typhoon Look" (觀氣象看天氣) social media page, Usagi's path continues to shift westward, increasing the likelihood of skirting the Eluanbi area and potentially making landfall. Residents are urged to stay informed about the typhoon's developments and prepare for possible impacts as the situation evolves.
