TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) on Thursday (Nov. 14) expressed excitement about Taiwan's victory against South Korea in the 2024 WBSC Premier 12 Group B preliminaries. He attributed the win to his pre-game ritual of eating Korean ramen. He said he plans to drink Dominican coffee to support the team in their upcoming match against the Dominican Republic.
On the Wednesday game, Chiang jumped from his seat in excitement when the team hit a grand slam, believing his ramen ritual played a role. Chiang, along with Taipei City Council Speaker Tai Hsi-chin (戴錫欽), cheered for the team at the stadium, accompanied by young players from Taipei Municipal Fulin Elementary School (福林國小).
Looking ahead to Saturday, Chiang plans to invite Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen (盧秀燕) to the Taipei Dome (台北大巨蛋) to support Taiwan. He mentioned arranging a culinary experience with Mayor Lu to cheer on the team and encouraged the public to suggest foods to boost the team's morale.
