TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In a significant move to foster international education and enhance national competitiveness, the Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced an increase in the number of scholarships available for Taiwanese students under the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) program.

This initiative, in collaboration with the European Commission, aims to encourage students from Taiwan to study in Europe and participate in master's courses offered by universities across the European Union (EU).

Expanding Opportunities

The MOE has raised the scholarship quota to 20 recipients, each beneficiary receiving up to US$16,000 annually. This expansion is designed to support students engaging in the EMJMD. This program spans 1 to 2 years and involves at least three universities from different EU countries. Students will be able to study in at least two different institutions across various nations, gaining a broad international perspective and valuable experiences in diverse educational settings.

Scholarship Details and Application Process

To qualify for this prestigious scholarship, students must first apply for admission to an EMJMD course at a European university for the 2024-2025 academic year. Those who have applied for a scholarship from the European Commission but were placed on the reserve list due to their outstanding performance are eligible to apply for the MOE's EU scholarship, following the guidelines outlined in the "2024 Ministry of Education EU Scholarship Selection Brochure" (113年教育部歐盟獎學金甄選簡章).

This initiative opens doors for Taiwanese students to pursue higher education in Europe and strengthens academic and cultural exchanges between Taiwan and the EU. With financial support per academic year for selected applicants, the program is set to significantly contribute to developing global professionals capable of competing internationally.
