TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei City Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) embarked on a four-day visit to Tokyo from Songshan Airport on Wednesday (May 15), aiming to participate in the SusHi Tech Tokyo 2024 City Leaders Program and deliver a speech.
This visit, prompted by an invitation from Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike, marks a significant step in sharing Taipei's experiences in building a safe city at the forum.
Strengthening Ties and Sharing Expertise
During his stay, Mayor Chiang will meet with various key figures and organizations, including Japan's Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Youth Division, Governor Koike, the Tokyo Chinese School, and the Japan-ROC Diet Members' Consultative Council. These meetings are designed to deepen the friendship and cooperation between Taipei and Tokyo.
A Packed Agenda
On Wednesday afternoon, he is scheduled to discuss exchange mechanisms with the LDP Youth Division, highlighting the importance of youth in bilateral relations.
Mayor Chiang's itinerary also includes attending the Sushi Tech Tokyo 2024 joint dinner on Wednesday evening, where he will meet representatives from sister cities such as Los Angeles, Seoul, and Manila.
On Thursday morning, he will share Taipei's resilience in earthquake response and extreme weather adaptation in his speech at the forum.
His visit will continue with a meeting with Governor Koike on Thursday afternoon. They will explore cooperation in safety, sports, and future city development, aiming to further enhance the exchange and collaboration between the two cities.
Mayor Chiang's visit to Tokyo represents a diplomatic effort to strengthen Taipei's international relationships and serves as a platform to showcase Taipei's advancements in urban safety and resilience on a global stage.
