TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Lin Chin-Fu, deputy director of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), reiterated on Thursday (Oct. 5) that there is no ractopamine pork in Taiwan.
Since Taiwan established a maximum level of ractopamine residue in meat in 2021, no ractopamine has ever been detected in any batches of imported pork inspected at the borders.
Over the past two and a half years, the FDA worked with the Department of Health in various cities and counties to inspect over 12,000 imported and domestic pork products.
Lin stressed that the result indicates no incidences of ractopamine pork in Taiwan.
As the two companies had labeled U.S. pork as Canadian-made, the FDA intends to issue a penalty of up to NT$4 million in accordance with the Food Safety Law.
