TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Foxconn founder Terry Gou gifted former Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso his Kinmen Peace Declaration during their meeting in Taipei on Wednesday (Aug. 9).
Aso reciprocated with a Japanese stamp from the popular animation Doraemon. They met the day after Gou launched his new book at Eslite Bookstore in Xinyi District.
Gou stressed the importance of Taiwan preparing for war while working toward peace. He also announced plans to share his views on the peace declaration in Kinmen on Aug. 23, which marks the beginning of the second Taiwan Strait Crisis.
He criticized the current Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administration, suggesting they need to establish trust with Beijing. Gou believes that China would not accept the approach of DPP presidential candidate Lai Ching-te, given the considerable doubts from the U.S., and pledged to facilitate cross-strait peaceful dialogues wholeheartedly.
