TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan People's Party Chairman Ko Wen-je dismissed rumors on Friday (Aug. 4) that he would become Terry Gou's running mate if the Foxconn founder announced his candidacy for the upcoming 2024 presidential election. Ko admitted that an alliance with Gou would be complicated.
In a radio interview earlier that day, Ko shared that, as the election registration deadline is still far away, he is reflecting daily and remaining open. Observers' speculation over a potential partnership between the two figures has continued, but Ko explained that changing the party's presidential nominee is complex.
Following procedural requirements, he was nominated as the Taiwan People's Party presidential candidate, asserting that a change at this point would generate complexities.
In reference to Jurassic Park, Ko noted that "Life will find its way," explaining that although it often seems political figures make decisions, public sentiment guides political direction. With this observation, Ko emphasized that the future course will unfold as the tide of the public will take it, remaining noncommital about this political crossroad.
