TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Typhoon Doksuri, classified as a moderate typhoon, was reported approximately 170 kilometers southwest of Cape Eluanbi as of 8 a.m. on Thursday (July 27), moving at a speed of 15 to 22 kilometers per hour in a north-northwesterly direction, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).

The CWB continues to issue sea and land typhoon warnings, with the land warning now expanded to 14 counties and cities. As Typhoon Doksuri approaches, winds and rainfall are intensifying in various areas.

Thursday will see the most significant impact of the typhoon, with short-duration heavy rainfall expected in the eastern, Hengchun Peninsula, and southern regions. Particularly in the south and Hualien-Taitung mountainous regions, rainfall could reach extensive to torrential levels.

The Hengchun Peninsula, Orchid Island, and Green Island may experience the strongest gusts. At the same time, the northern coast of Keelung, regions north of Hsinchu, southeastern and northeastern coastal areas, and Kinmen and Matsu may also encounter intense gusts of wind.

The Taipei Basin and northeastern coastal areas may experience stronger gusts as well. Additionally, long waves are likely along the coastlines of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu.

Regarding temperatures, highs in various areas will range from 29 to 33 degrees Celsius. However, due to the influence of the typhoon's outer circulation, localized areas from Taoyuan to Changhua and Kinmen may experience temperatures 1 to 2 degrees Celsius higher.

The typhoon and its outer circulation will bring scattered showers to various areas on Friday. The wind and rain intensity will diminish as the typhoon gradually moves away, with rain-free periods extending progressively. Short, occasional showers may still occur in the southern, eastern, and southeastern regions, while other areas may experience localized, brief showers.
