TAICHUNG (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Coast Guards caught a Chinese fishing boat from Fujian Province fishing in our territorial waters near Taichung on Sunday (April 16).
After Taiwanese fishermen spotted the Chinese fishing boat, the Taichung Coast Guard immediately dispatched a patrol boat.
The Chinese vessel attempted to escape, but the Coast Guard boarded the ship and discovered 2,000 kg of illegally caught fish, which were subsequently returned to the ocean in accordance with the law.
According to the coast guards, the Chinese boat's Automatic Identification System was not turned on, making it challenging to identify the vessel earlier as it only appeared as a dot on the radar.
