LOS ANGELES (TVBS News) — Protesters and supporters of President Tsai Ing-wen converged outside her hotel in Los Angeles on Thursday, the final day of her U.S. visit.
Chinese demonstrators chanted "One China!" as overseas Chinese accused them of accepting bribes from the CCP.
Meanwhile, overseas Taiwanese and Taiwanese Americans showed solidarity by waving Taiwan's national flag.
Tsai had been transiting through the U.S. after visiting Taiwan's diplomatic allies, Guatemala and Belize, in Central America last week.
The visit aimed to strengthen ties with these nations amidst Taiwan's diplomatic relations decreasing to 13, with Honduras switching allegiances to China last month.
Tsai's U.S. transit and meeting with U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy only fueled the tension between supporters of Taiwan and China.
