TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's most famous dumpling chain store Din Tai Fung will hike prices by 4% starting on Nov. 22 as food and energy prices soar.
Following the price hike, its signature pork xiaolongbao will increase to NT$25, up from NT$23 each, meaning that the dish will be NT$20 more expensive. Some customers have also voiced their displeasure with the annoucement.
According to Din Tai Fung, around 140 dishes will be affected by the price hike. This will also mark the second year in a row Din Tai Fung has raised its prices.
As the COVID-19 pandemic situation stabilizes in Taiwan, rising costs and labor shortages continue to pose a problem for many businesses on the island.
