TAIPEI (TVBS News) — NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) on Friday (Aug. 22) declared nuclear energy a viable option while announcing plans to visit Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd. (TSMC, 台積電). Huang emphasized artificial intelligence's role in Taiwan's future, highlighting energy's critical importance for industrial growth. He stated that artificial intelligence will be everywhere, presenting a great opportunity for Taiwan's technological advancement.
Huang revealed NVIDIA's collaboration with Foxconn (鴻海) to build Taiwan's first AI factory, which will require substantial energy resources. He urged Taiwan to explore diverse energy sources, including clean carbon, sustainable energies like solar and wind, and nuclear power. His visit primarily aims to engage with TSMC, where NVIDIA has submitted six new chip designs for production, including CPUs, GPUs, networking chips, and silicon photonics processors.
Huang avoided directly responding when asked about rumors of President Donald Trump potentially investing in TSMC. However, he praised TSMC as one of the greatest companies in human history. The NVIDIA chief's diplomatic response highlighted the semiconductor giant's global significance in the technology industry. ◼
