TAIPEI (TVBS News) — MediaTek (聯發科) reported its first-quarter financial results on Wednesday (April 30), revealing a net profit of NT$29.529 billion, a 23.3% increase from the previous quarter but a 6.7% decrease from the same period last year.
MediaTek's first-quarter revenue reached NT$153.312 billion, marking an 11.1% quarterly increase and a 14.9% year-over-year rise, surpassing its operational target range of NT$140.8 billion to NT$151.8 billion. The company attributed the revenue growth to heightened market demand and increased customer adoption of AI, 5G, and Wi-Fi 7 technologies.
Earnings per share stood at NT$18.43, outperforming the previous quarter's NT$14.95 but falling short of last year's NT$19.85. The company explained that changes in product mix resulted in a gross profit margin of 48.1%, a decrease of 0.4 percentage points from the previous quarter and 4.3 percentage points from the previous year.
At the recent MDDC 2025 (天璣開發者大會), MediaTek unveiled its 5G Agentic AI chip, Dimensity 9400+, which analysts predict could boost the company's market share in flagship chipsets. Supply chain sources suggest that MediaTek's mobile SoCs might be integrated into Samsung's (三星) flagship models, with an expected 60% shipment rate for the Dimensity 9400, surpassing the previous generation's 9300.
