TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A series of weather changes will affect Taiwan over the coming days as a weather front from South China will merge with a stationary front on Friday (April 25) and Saturday, causing rain and thunderstorms, particularly in northern regions, the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署) reported.
The weather will turn cooler in the north and eastern regions by Saturday morning, with temperatures dropping to 18-20 degrees Celsius. The northeast monsoon will weaken, leading to temperatures rising to 28-29 degrees in the north and Yilan on Sunday. Rainfall will decrease, although sporadic showers will still occur in the north and eastern regions. Another front will pass quickly next Monday, bringing unstable weather and localized showers or thunderstorms in central and northern areas.
The front will move away by next Tuesday, and moisture will decrease under the influence of the northeast monsoon. Most areas will experience partly cloudy to sunny skies, with only the eastern regions seeing isolated rain. CWA forecaster Kuan Hsin-ping (官欣平) advised residents to carry rain gear due to the unstable weather and noted the potential for fog or low clouds, especially in the Kinmen and Matsu areas.
Kuan highlighted that while there will be brief sunny spells, cloud systems will continue to move in from the Taiwan Strait, affecting the central and northern regions. As the front approaches and temperatures rise, fog may occur, particularly early mornings. Residents should remain alert to these changes and plan accordingly.
