TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The head of the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI, 台灣機械工業同業公會), emphasized the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotic arms in driving digital transformation on Monday (March 3). The Taipei International Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS 2025, 台北國際工具機展) opened on Monday morning, highlighting the resilience and vitality of Taiwan's machinery and tool industry amid complex international dynamics.
TAMI Chairman David Chuang (莊大立) noted that businesses have faced drastic changes in their operating environment due to geopolitical impacts, such as the Russia-Ukraine and Israeli-Arab conflicts, and tariff issues. Despite the unstable global trade and economic situation in 2024, Chuang expressed optimism, stating that many international buyers are visiting this year, indicating the resilience and vitality of Taiwan's machinery and tool industry.
Chuang pointed out that TAMI continues to align with government policies to assist the industry in adopting AI applications and transitioning to net zero, shifting the competition from price to value. This transformation is set to drive increased production value. The exhibition, co-hosted by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (外貿協會) and TAMI, will run for six days at the Nangang Exhibition Center (南港展覽館) and Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1 (台北世貿一館).
It features over 1,000 exhibitors using 6,100 booths, marking a record-breaking scale. The event focuses on AI, robotics, smart manufacturing, and sustainable energy, aiming to open business opportunities in semiconductors, electric vehicles, medical, aerospace, and green energy sectors.
