TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A cold front has swept through northern and northeastern Taiwan, bringing cooler temperatures and sporadic showers, the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) reported Friday (Feb. 21).
The temperatures in these areas will dip between 13 and 15 degrees Celsius, with highs reaching 16 to 18°C. Meanwhile, central, southern, and eastern regions, including Hualien and Taitung, will enjoy warmer temperatures ranging from 20 to 25°C.
Meteorologists predict sporadic showers in Taoyuan and northern areas, as well as the eastern half of the island, including Matsu. The northern coast of Keelung, northeastern regions, and the mountainous areas of Greater Taipei may experience heavier rainfall.
CWA has warned for strong gusts from early morning until noon in coastal and open areas from Tainan northward and the Hengchun Peninsula. In the afternoon, these gusts will intensify to levels 9 to 10 from Hsinchu to Tainan.
Drivers should exercise caution this morning due to low clouds or fog affecting visibility from Taoyuan to Kaohsiung. These conditions may pose challenges for road safety. As the seasonal weather shifts, residents and travelers should stay updated on the latest forecasts and advisories to ensure safety and preparedness.
