TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan braces for a cold front, set to sweep across the island starting Friday (Feb. 7) afternoon, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署).
The agency predicts a significant temperature drop, with lows ranging from 8 to 10 degrees Celsius overnight in the northern and Yilan regions.
Rainfall will affect areas north of Taoyuan and the eastern regions, with brief showers expected. The west coast and Matsu may experience sporadic rain, while Hsinchu and Miaoli will see scattered showers from early morning to noon. Other areas will remain mostly cloudy.
During the day, the northern and central regions, Yilan and Hualien, will see temperatures between 16 and 20°C. The southeastern and southern areas will be warmer, with 22 to 24°C highs. Overnight, temperatures in the south and the eastern regions, including Hualien, will drop to 11 to 13°C. On the offshore islands, Penghu will range from 13 to 16°C, Kinmen from 9 to 17°C, and Matsu from 7 to 13°C.
