TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A weakening cold front brought sporadic showers to areas north of Taoyuan, eastern regions, and northern mountain areas on Thursday (Feb. 6), according to Taiwan's Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署). Another cold air mass will arrive Friday night, potentially dropping temperatures in northern regions to 7 degrees Celsius.
Central and southern mountain regions, along with Hsinchu and Miaoli, may experience brief showers, while other areas remain mostly cloudy, the CWA reported.
The cold front's gradual weakening has led to chilly mornings and evenings, with temperatures ranging from 11-13°C in central and northeastern Taiwan. Other areas expect lows between 14 and 15°C. Highs will reach 17-21°C in the north and east, while other regions will see 23-24°C.
Offshore islands like Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu will experience temperatures between 12 to 18°C. Starting Thursday afternoon, strong gusts are forecasted for coastal areas from Hsinchu to Chiayi and Penghu.
