TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A brief respite from the northeast monsoon on Tuesday (Dec. 10) will bring stable weather to western Taiwan, with only sporadic showers in Greater Taipei's eastern side and the eastern regions, according to the Weather Risk (天氣風險公司). Wu Sheng-yu (吳聖宇), general manager of Weather Risk, anticipates a weather shift later this week, signaling a drop in temperatures. He notes that a weak front will pass through on Thursday, causing temperatures to cool.
By Friday, the cold air will intensify, potentially lowering nighttime and early morning temperatures in open areas of central and northern Taiwan and the northeast to 10 degrees Celsius or below, with urban areas possibly reaching lows of 12°C or below. Daytime highs in northern and northeastern Taiwan will dip to 19-21°C on Thursday, while Hualien and Taitung will experience highs of 22-25°C. As coastal winds strengthen, central and southern regions will remain warmer, with highs between 25-28°C.
Greater Taipei, Taoyuan, and eastern regions will experience sporadic showers, but rainfall will decrease significantly by evening as the air turns dry on Friday. The weekend will bring mostly cloudy to sunny weather, with minor rain chances in windward areas. Wu noted that the temperature is expected to rise after next Monday, with another cold front anticipated later in the week. Further observations are needed to determine the exact timing and impact of this development.
