TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) reported that a strengthened northeast monsoon will bring scattered showers to northern, northeastern, and eastern Taiwan on Monday (Nov. 11). Notably, the Keelung north coast, northeastern regions, and the mountainous areas of Greater Taipei will experience more significant rainfall.
The administration noted that southeastern regions and the Hengchun Peninsula (恆春半島) might see sporadic rain. At the same time, areas south of Hsinchu, along with Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, will remain mostly cloudy to sunny.
Daytime temperatures will hover between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius in the north, northeast, east, and outlying islands, with other regions reaching 29 to 31 degrees. This will create significant temperature differences between day and night in central and southern Taiwan.
Strong gusts of force 8 to 9 are expected along the coastal areas from Taoyuan to Yunlin and in the Hengchun Peninsula, Orchid Island (蘭嶼), Green Island (綠島), Penghu, and Matsu. Early morning fog or low clouds might affect visibility from Yunlin to Tainan.
Typhoon Toraji was located 740 kilometers south-southeast of Cape Eluanbi (鵝鑾鼻) at 2 a.m., moving northwest by west. It will pass through Luzon today. Although Typhoon Toraji is unlikely to directly impact Taiwan, its peripheral cloud systems will increase moisture near the island from Tuesday to Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile, Typhoon Yinxing in the South China Sea will head toward Vietnam, and Typhoon Man-yi near Guam will weaken to a tropical depression, which will not affect Taiwan's weather.
