TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of National Defense (MND, 國防部) reported on Tuesday (Jan. 7) that China launched a carrier rocket at 4 a.m. from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center (西昌衛星發射中心) in Sichuan (四川). The rocket's trajectory passed over central Taiwan, heading towards the western Pacific Ocean.
The MND assured that the rocket traveled outside the atmosphere, posing no threat to Taiwan. The ministry emphasized that the military closely monitored the situation using a joint intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance system. The MND reiterated its commitment to maintaining vigilance and readiness.
