TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Presidential Office (總統府) has urged China to cease its provocative actions in the Taiwan Strait, following intensified military activities in the region on Wednesday (Dec. 11), as tensions rise due to Beijing's aggressive maneuvers.
The Ministry of National Defense (MND, 國防部) reported that from Tuesday morning to Wednesday morning, the Chinese military deployed 53 PLA aircraft, with 23 crossing the median line. Also, 11 People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) vessels and eight official ships operated around Taiwan.
Presidential Office spokeswoman Karen Kuo (郭雅慧) called on Chinese authorities to fulfill their regional obligations and halt all provocations. Kuo described these actions as a blatant disruption to Indo-Pacific security and stability, introducing uncertainty to the international community.
Kuo emphasized that the routine visits of the President of the Republic of China, Taiwan, abroad should not serve as an excuse for Chinese provocations. She assured the public that Taiwan's military remains vigilant and capable of effectively managing the situation in the Taiwan Strait, ensuring national security. Kuo urged citizens to remain calm, affirming that Taiwan's international exchanges are normal and legitimate.
