TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan Tobacco & Liquor Corporation (臺灣菸酒公司) announced Thursday (Jan. 2) that prices for Rice Cooking Wine (紅標料理米酒) will remain unchanged this year and the next. During the Finance Committee's (立法院財政委員會) review of the 2025 central government budget, the corporation's budget operations came under scrutiny.
Chairman Tang Chi-an (湯期安) revealed that freezing the price of Rice Cooking Wine could lead to an estimated loss of NT$500 million annually. However, he assured the company would strive to offset these losses and hoped to classify this as a corporate policy burden. Kuomintang (KMT, 國民黨) Legislator Lai Shyh-bao (賴士葆) raised concerns about the corporation's 2024 revenue, which reached NT$44 billion with a profit of NT$4.8 billion, falling short of expectations.
Despite these challenges, Tang expressed optimism about exceeding the 2.5-month performance and year-end bonus threshold for 2025. He cited upcoming orders from overseas markets and intensified marketing efforts, including collaborations with baseball games, as key strategies for achieving this goal.
