TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A cold air mass arrived on Friday (Dec. 27), bringing cooler temperatures to northern and northeastern regions, with chilly mornings and evenings expected elsewhere. Meteorologists warn that the cold air will intensify by Sunday morning, with Miaoli (苗栗) potentially experiencing a perceived temperature as low as 6 degrees Celsius. The northern and eastern parts, along with mountainous areas in central and southern regions, may experience brief showers due to an incoming cloud system from the south, while scattered showers are possible in other areas.

Today's temperatures range from 15-17°C in northern and northeastern areas, 16-20°C in central regions, and 17-23 °C in the south. Eastern areas will see temperatures between 18 and 20°C, while southeastern regions will experience 19-22°C. Penghu (澎湖) will have 17-18°C, Kinmen (金門) 13-16°C, and Matsu (馬祖) 11-13°C. The weekend will see continued influence from the cold air mass, with cooler weather in northern, northeastern, and eastern regions. Saturday will bring more moisture, leading to brief showers north of Taoyuan (桃園) and in eastern areas, while central and southern mountainous regions may see scattered showers.

By Sunday, the environment will dry out, resulting in mostly cloudy to sunny skies, with only eastern areas experiencing scattered showers. Residents should prepare for the drop in temperatures and stay informed about weather updates.
