TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署) forecast scattered showers on Wednesday (Dec. 25) along the Keelung north coast and eastern areas, while other regions will experience partly cloudy skies, making it suitable for outdoor activities. CWA Meteorologist Lin Te-en (林得恩) advised that starting Thursday, a cold air mass will arrive, causing temperatures to drop, urging residents to stay alert to changing conditions.
Wednesdsay began with lows between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius, and the north and northeast reached highs of 21 to 23 degrees. Other areas enjoyed warmer temperatures from 24 to 26 degrees. In the outlying islands, Penghu recorded temperatures from 18 to 19 degrees, Kinmen ranged from 14 to 20 degrees, and Matsu saw 12 to 15 degrees, with cooler mornings and evenings in the north.
Lin noted a shift to a cold and wet climate from Thursday to Friday, transitioning to dry and cold from Saturday to Monday. The CWA forecasted isolated showers north of Taoyuan and in eastern regions on Thursday, with scattered showers in the Hsinchu-Miaoli and central-southern mountainous areas, while other regions remain mostly cloudy.
On Friday, southern cloud systems might increase rain chances across Taiwan, with local showers in the north, east, and central-southern mountains. Saturday promises more moisture, bringing isolated showers north of Taoyuan and in eastern regions, with central-southern mountains experiencing scattered rain. By Sunday, the environment will turn dry, with mostly clear skies except for isolated showers in the east, urging caution against radiative cooling effects.
