TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Ministry of Labor (MOL, 勞動部) announced on Wednesday (Dec. 25) that an investigation related to allegations of abuse of power of its Department of Employment Relations (勞動關係司) head was launched, and the deletion of the social media comment was to protect personal information, not to suppress voices.
A MOL employee accused Wang Hou-wei (王厚偉) on Facebook of favoritism and workplace bullying, leading to an unfair work environment. The person also claimed that Wang used his position to manipulate facts and delay the resignation process for some colleagues, prompting an investigation by the MOL. The post, however, was reported to be deleted, according to the CTWANT.
The MOL responded that they had launched an investigation the previous day and involved external experts to ensure a fair process. Ministry officials emphasized their commitment to uncovering the truth without bias.
This incident follows another high-profile case involving Hsieh Yi-jung (謝宜容), former MOL's Workforce Development Agency’s northern branch head, in November. Allegations of bullying leading to an employee's death recently rocked the ministry, causing former Minister Ho Pei-shan (何佩珊) to resign. Hsieh faces charges related to corruption and remains in custody due to flight risk concerns, as ruled by the New Taipei District Court on Dec. 11.
