TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The office  of Taiwan's former President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) stated on Thursday (Nov. 14) that they would disclose the details of her potential trip to Canada at the right time after related details are confirmed. However, no further information was provided.

These diplomatic sources revealed that Tsai plans to attend the Halifax International Security Forum (HFX) in Nova Scotia, set on Nov. 22, where she is expected to deliver a speech, according to two anonymous diplomatic sources cited by Reuters.

Tsai's potential visit has sparked significant attention due to Tsai's symbolic status in Taiwan's resistance against China's military threats, the officials analyzed.

Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Lin Jian (林劍) earlier that day, during a regular press briefing, expressed strong opposition to any Taiwan independence figures visiting countries with which China has diplomatic ties.

The HFX and Global Affairs Canada have yet to comment on the matter, as requests for remarks sent outside business hours remain unanswered.
