TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Chinese Taipei Baseball Association (CTBA, 中華民國棒球協會) announced on Wednesday (Nov. 13) that it will immediately suspend games if Taipei declares a work and class suspension due to Typhoon Usagi. The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) reported that Usagi has intensified into a moderate typhoon.
The association emphasized its commitment to discussing schedule adjustments with World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC, 世界棒壘球總會) officials. If the typhoon impacts the games, they plan to announce ticket refund and purchase procedures. The 2024 WBSC Premier 12 Group B preliminaries took place on Wednesday at the Taipei Dome (台北大巨蛋), marking the venue's first major international event since its opening.
Taiwan faced South Korea in their opening match, securing a 6-3 victory. According to CTBA, the highly anticipated Taiwan-South Korea showdown sold out all 33,000 tickets before the game. South Korean cheerleader Lee Dahye (李多慧) and her former teammate Lan Lan (籃籃) attended the event, along with Fubon Angels' (富邦悍將) Lee Ayoung (李雅英), TSG Hawks' (台鋼雄鷹) An Jihyun (安芝儇), and Uni Lions' (統一獅) Jo Yeonjoo (趙娟週).
