TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT, 美國在台協會) announced on Tuesday (Oct. 29) that Ingrid Larson, the Washington Office Managing Director, will visit Taiwan from Oct. 28 to Nov. 1.

Her visit underscores the United States' firm commitment to Taiwan. Larson aims to discuss regional security, trade, investment, and educational and cultural links with relevant Taiwanese figures, furthering the U.S.-Taiwan partnership.

AIT emphasized that Larson's visit seeks to promote ongoing cooperation between Taiwan and the U.S. in mutually beneficial trade and investment. Larson has served as AIT's Washington Office Managing Director since May 2020. Before this role, she spent 22 years with the U.S. Department of State, including a position as the director of the Office of Taiwan Coordination.

In 2018, Larson became a senior U.S. diplomat, with postings in South Korea, Mexico, China, Tunisia, and Cyprus. Hailing from Colorado, Larson graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in international affairs. She earned a law degree from Temple University in Philadelphia in 1994.

Her visit to Taiwan highlights the U.S.'s dedication to strengthening ties across various sectors. As discussions unfold, observers anticipate developments that could influence future U.S.-Taiwan relations.
