TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A strengthening northeast wind will bring scattered showers to the northern coast of Keelung, Yilan, and Hualien on Wednesday (Oct. 16), according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署). The Greater Taipei area, Taoyuan, Taitung, and the Hengchun Peninsula may also experience isolated rainfall.
Hsinchu and regions southward, including Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, will see mostly cloudy to sunny skies, with a chance of brief afternoon thunderstorms in mountainous and southern areas. The CWA noted that nighttime and early morning temperatures will be cooler, ranging from 23 to 25 degrees Celsius across Taiwan and its outlying islands.
Daytime highs will reach 27 to 30 degrees in the north and east, while central and southern regions will see temperatures around 31 or 32 degrees.
Meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) predicted that moisture levels will decrease by Friday, leading to partly cloudy skies and slightly warmer temperatures, though brief afternoon thunderstorms may still occur in mountainous areas.
On Saturday, a northeast monsoon will move southward, bringing localized rain to the north and east, with heavier rainfall expected on the northern coast and northeastern regions.
As the weekend progresses, the weather will slightly dry out by Sunday, though chances of brief showers persist in the northern coast, northeast, and afternoon mountainous areas. Next Monday will offer mostly cloudy to sunny conditions with occasional showers.
The following Tuesday to Thursday will see a strengthening northeast monsoon, bringing localized rain and a notable cooling trend in northern Taiwan.
