TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's weather will remain stable on Monday (Sept. 16), with mostly cloudy to sunny skies across the island and its outlying islands, including Penghu (澎湖), Kinmen (金門), and Matsu (馬祖), according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署).
The CWA has forecast isolated showers in eastern Taiwan and southern regions in the afternoon.
Temperatures will hover between 33 and 36 degrees Celsius, with areas north of Taoyuan (桃園) and parts of Taitung (台東) possibly exceeding 36°C due to the descending eastern winds. The CWA advises residents to stay hydrated and take precautions against sun exposure.
Strong gusts are expected along the northern coast, Taoyuan, Hsinchu (新竹), and the Hengchun Peninsula (恆春半島), from the afternoon. The same weather pattern will affect Orchid Island (蘭嶼) and Green Island (綠島), with the possibility of long waves along the coasts from central to northern Taiwan and the eastern regions, including Matsu.
The Ministry of Environment (MOENV, 環境部) reported that eastern winds will cause slightly poorer air diffusion in western Taiwan, leading to the accumulation of pollutants.
Meanwhile, the air quality will be "good" in northern Taiwan, Yilan (宜蘭), Hualien (花蓮), Taitung, and the outlying islands, while it will be "moderate" in Hsinchu-Miaoli (竹苗), central Taiwan, Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan (雲嘉南), and Kaohsiung-Pingtung (高屏).
