TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A low-pressure system will bring high chances of rain to northern and northeastern Taiwan on Tuesday (Sept. 10), according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署). Hualien, Penghu, and Matsu will also experience scattered showers, with rainfall expected to ease by the afternoon.
Meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) indicated multiple low-pressure disturbances, including one near Guam, which will move toward northeastern Taiwan by Sunday. Wu noted that the low-pressure system will move away on Wednesday, leading to occasional short showers across regions, with thunderstorms likely in the afternoon in central and southern Taiwan.
Wu also forecasted unstable atmospheric conditions on Thursday and Friday, with localized rain in the north and east and potential thunderstorms in the afternoon. From Saturday to Monday, another low-pressure system will approach northeastern Taiwan, causing occasional short showers, particularly in the afternoon.
As for the Mid-Autumn Festival evening, Wu mentioned conflicting weather models: the European model predicts rain in the north and east, while the U.S. model forecasts dry weather. He advised continued observation due to ongoing data adjustments.
