TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA, 民航局) temporarily suspended ground operations at Songshan Airport (松山機場) at 3:31 p.m. on Thursday (Sept. 19) due to thunderstorms. This disruption may cause flight delays.
The CAA has urged travelers and those picking up passengers to stay updated on flight changes and contact airlines for any flight-related issues. Airports with flights to and from Songshan Airport will also experience potential delays in departure or arrival times.
The CAA has instructed relevant airport stations to inform passengers through bulletin boards, scrolling text, and broadcasts within terminals. They will also provide the latest flight information on their official website for public access.
The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署) issued a real-time heavy thunderstorm alert for New Taipei City (新北市) and Taipei City (臺北市) at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, expecting it to last until 4:15 p.m.
The administration also released a heavy rain advisory for Thursday afternoon and evening, affecting areas including Keelung's north coast, Taipei City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, Taichung City, Changhua County, Nantou County, Yunlin County, Chiayi City, Chiayi County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, Pingtung County, Hengchun Peninsula, mountainous areas of Yilan County, Hualien County, and Taitung County.
