TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署) on Monday (Oct. 7) issued a heavy rain advisory for New Taipei City, Taipei City, and Keelung City. The agency cited an intensified northeast monsoon and increased moisture as the reasons for potential short-duration heavy rainfall in these areas.
Rainfall probabilities have risen north of Taoyuan and in Yilan, with prolonged rainfall expected along the northern coast of Keelung and the mountainous regions of Taipei. The administration warned of the possibility of localized heavy rain and urged caution in mountainous areas due to the risk of landslides, falling rocks, mudslides, and rapid river rises.
Hsinchu, Miaoli, Hualien, Taitung, and Penghu regions might experience scattered short showers. Meanwhile, central and southern Taiwan, Kinmen, and Matsu will see cloudy to sunny skies with a chance of isolated afternoon thunderstorms and heavy rain.
Temperatures in the north and northeast have dropped slightly, with highs between 28 and 30 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Penghu and Kinmen will have around 30 or 31 degrees highs.
