TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense (MND, 國防部) reported multiple waves of missile launches by the People's Liberation Army Rocket Force and Army Long-Range Artillery units across Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Qinghai, and Xinjiang regions starting Sunday (Sept. 29) at 6:50 a.m.
Taiwan's military has heightened its alertness and surveillance in response, the MND said.
The MND emphasized that joint intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance methods have been employed to closely monitor the situation. The air defense forces remain on high alert, ready to respond to any developments.
The ministry reiterated that the security and prosperity of the Indo-Pacific region are crucial to global development, and any provocative actions could severely destabilize the area.
In a press release issued Sunday evening, the MND stated its commitment to maintaining a state of preparedness without seeking conflict and adding that it will respond to threats without hesitation.
The ministry stressed that the armed forces will continue to bolster their self-defense capabilities to adapt to evolving threats.
The situation underscores the ongoing tensions in the Indo-Pacific region, with Taiwan's military maintaining a vigilant stance to ensure regional stability. The MND's proactive measures highlight the importance of readiness and resilience in the face of potential provocations.
