TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense's Information, Communications and Electronic Force Command (ICEFCOM, 資通電軍) refuted accusations from Chinese state media on Monday (Sept. 23), which claimed that a hacker group has been attacking China, Hong Kong, and Macau, and Taiwan's military was behind these attacks.
The ICEFCOM released a statement on Monday morning, asserting that the accusations are baseless. The command emphasized that it is responsible for maintaining national defense information and cybersecurity, not conducting cyberattacks.
The command highlighted the severe nature of current threats, stating that the Chinese military and its affiliates are the true disruptor of regional peace, as they continue to use aircraft, ships, and cyberattacks to harass Taiwan.
The command reiterated its commitment to strengthening national defense cybersecurity under the defense ministry's guidance to ensure national security.
Chinese state media, China Central Television (CCTV, 央視), reported that "Anonymous 64" (匿名者64) has frequently attacked networks in China and Hong Kong in recent years. The report also disclosed the names and photos of three individuals allegedly serving in Taiwan's ICEFCOM.
