TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Tourism Administration (觀光署) announced on Tuesday (Sept. 3) that the nation will host the first-ever Tour de France Challenge at Sun Moon Lake (日月潭) later this year, marking a significant milestone for the nation's tourism and cycling community.
This event aims to boost international tourist numbers and showcase Taiwan's scenic beauty, the Tourism Administration Director-General Chou Yung-hui (周永暉) noted.
The Tour de France Challenge will be part of "Taiwan Bike Day" (台灣自行車旅遊節), which features ten major brand events, such as the "Taiwan KOM Challenge" (台灣自行車登山王), "Formosa 900" (騎遇福爾摩沙900), and "Let's All Ride" (台中自行車嘉年華).
Chou further noted that over 5 million visits of international tourists, achieving half of the numbers set by the tourism administration. He vowed that the administration will continue to work hard in the hope of securing more high-end tourists.
